I feel fortunate to have found a thriving educational community like Enosburg Falls High School in which to facilitate a course like Community Based Learning (CBL) during the past thirteen years.
I received a B. A. degree in history from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, which involved extensive study and travel in Europe and led me, eventually, to pursue an interdisciplinary M.A. at The New School University in New York City. There I met and married a modern dancer. Once my wife had completed her M.F.A. at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts, we decided to move to Vermont, where we have worked for several decades as educators and also nurtured our daughter.
Students are sometimes surprised by my life-long interest and pleasure in poetry. I love to encourage Community Based Learners to explore language through the growth mindset of contemporary poets and, likewise, to cultivate respectful relationships through cogent and playful communications on our CBL Wiki.
